plush material scrunches around the internal coiled rope, while stretchy sides create natural movement to entice play. the internal knots satisfy natural instincts and these toys contain no stuffing for less mess. my dog enjoyed this toy, but was able to perform brain surgery and removed the ball of rope that filled the head portion of this toy. fortunately he did not attempt to eat the ball of rope. i do not recommend this toy if your dog likes to chew through the fabric of their toys. my dog is not a super aggressive chewer and the soft kong toys typically last about 2-3 months. out of the box with many toys this was the initial favorite. unfortunately the head of the toy was chewed off in fewer than 10 minutes. this one flat out failed.
the kong raccoon is a perfect toy for playing tug, for playing hide-and-seek, and for keeping that puppy mouth busy, and not busy on my hands and fingers! this has quickly become my beagle-mix’s go-to toy, especially for fetch. it has a good weight to it and seems like it will last him a long time. i realize it’s a chew toy, but was hoping it would last a little longer. i buy kong as they are usually great products. my dog had the squeaker out in less than 5 minutes. i expected this toy to last a bit longer since it is made by kong. no fault of the company i am sure. the kong pig hast lasted longer than most. it may be a good idea to not put ears that stick up so far as he goes for the ears then the soft stuffed face.
