and they are so serious in there attempt to scare the pants off of even the most studious of their applicants. i am tripping about getting this all sorted in a useable manner for studying.so pathetic how they had a lame trainer who kept assuming that she had gone over helpful and important hints for us to study, cuz she trains so much, each group has become a blur to her. the money should be good, but if the restaurant ran as well as they infer it will based on this training, i’ll be shocked. and same to all those in search of job security with out the mind fuck that comes with corporate food service. i’m a bit worried since i just quit my last job and i dont wanna have to be jobless bc i couldn’t pass this menu test…like really? let me email@example.com…thanks anywho well dumb ass if you’ve ever been a server you’d know people ask you a lot of questions beyond what’s in the menu. i’m in my 2nd week of training at og and i already aced one of the tests w 100% so obviously if you have half a brain they’re not too hard especially considering i’m a bit of a retard myself.
if you believe you’re entitled to a better job just because you’ve graduated college, well, you’ve lost the plot. i understand it may be a lot but also useful because some customers my want you as a server to tell what’s in a certain dish or what wine will go best with it. don’t let the tests scare you so much, just study as much as you can and you’ll be fine.obviously there are much more important things in this world than knowing what ingredients go into a steak gorgonzola, but there isn’t anything wrong with knowing your job inside and out, whatever you happen to do for a living, i believe you should take pride in it and know your job well… if nothing else you will make more money if you appear to know what the hell you’re doing. it may be different had i ever worked in an italian restaurant as a restaurant manager…my employees need to know that menu like it was written by them. its part of the success of a restaurant. i just want to know what happens if you fail and your trainer isn’t cool and crosses out your failed test, because i know mine won’t. i’m a current trainer for og and will admit the tests are a bit excessive, but i think it is another way of seeing how dedicated you are planning on being to your job.
