it comes with two trays that work with the sift to capture fresh litter that falls through, so you can keep it clean with less effort. that way, it stays in the box and off your floors. with bpa-free plastic, these boxes are made to last through numerous trips to the litter box. i agree with others that it doesn’t have a great way to pull the sifter box up. there’s space on the bottom of the sifter that litter falls into that fits seem like a waste and allows litter to clump on the underside which with the clay litter was really really messy. the boxes are pretty nice sized, i have one cat who doesn’t like high sides but a high aimer, and the extra room allows them to fully get in the box without possible misses.
the size is great and litter doesnt seem to stick, tho i use pelletized wood litter. with any significant amount of litter in the pan it is heavy and it is difficult to get a good hold on it and lift it up. the saw dust in the pan tends to dry out making it so much lighter to carry…very light compared to the horrible clumping junk and so much cheaper!!! works well; sift and then wipe out the dirty box. then when ready to clean, dump the first box into the sifter and lift. the other in my garage were i put the litter box and they use it so often i have to clean it about every 3 days with this sifting cat litter box it makes it so easy.

this box is made of hard plastic and one of the trays only made it a couple months when it was knocked down by the cats from where it was stored and shattered. i love the big size of this box. with this box the can fit and no butt hanging out and poop on floor! however since it is so big, it is heavy to work with. i use wood pellets and i have to shake it to get it to sift, which is normal with pellets, but with the larger size comes more weight to lift and shake. might work for some,but i have big boys..and their aim is poor. it is simply too heavy to bend over and lift repeatedly for the sifting process. they are difficult to line up and engage.
